Goa Vs Thailand

Goa Vs Thailand or Bali or Langkawi?

These days travelling to Goa costs as much the same going to Thailand or to that matter Langkawi? May be on little expensive side Bali. Confused right? There are lots of beach lovers in India who go to Goa almost every year for a break & take refuge in one of the beach side budget hotels or budget resorts. Some people even go for short term or long term service apartments which are easily available. Those who have little deep pockets wouldn't mind staying in luxury or premium hotels. But the way air travel is becoming inexpensive after arrival of international budget airlines like AirAsia, things are changing fast. People now want to explore the beaches of other countries which are found to more better, cleaner like in Phuket of Thailand, Langkawi of Malaysia or Bali of Indonesia.
But I think people would prefer to have more information or other comparators before making such decisions. I got this transcript, may be it can help you make a right decision.

I have been to both Goa and Phuket on several occasions and am a big fan of both places. Here is what I see as the differences between them as a beach destination:
At the outset, I would say that if you have not been to Bali, I would suggest you go there as it has the beaches, the shopping, etc you are looking for and is a really magical place. You might do India on another trip after you have been to Bali. Travel in India is not easy and many people have a negative reaction to India in general, given the poverty, etc. I don't share this view, but India is not for the faint of heart in any case.
Goa's beaches are "wilder" than those in Thailand or Malaysia in the sense that they are longer and wider, the sand is coarser, the surf is rougher and you don't have the blue water or limestone islands jutting up out of the sea as you do in Phuket and to some extent in Samui. The surf in Phuket/Samui/Langakwi is gentler as it is more protected, Goa is on the Indian ocean and has a real surf. Goa is also a bit drier than the other places so the vegetation is not as lush. The beaches are still beautiful in their own way, but you wont' find powdery white sand and azure waters. The beaches are flat and endless, as contrasted to the other places where there as many hills, bays, etc which means you generally have a stretch of beach with rocky points at either end. Goan beaches go on basically forever, great for walking, horseback riding or driving/motorcycling (on coastal roads). (The only beaches that might compare Goa in terms of length are along the east coast of Malaysia.) There is no snorkelling or scuba diving to speak of.
The quality of tourist hotels in Goa is much more limited than in the other places you mention. There are a few good ones like the Park Hyatt, and then many mediocre ones. There is a very nice Marriott, but it is not on the beach which I find to be a little bit of a drawback. Goa does not get anywhere near the number of tourists that the other places you have been to do. For many years Goa was the destination for hippies who would stay literally for years and the level of accommodation and dining was commensurate with low budget travellers. This is changing, but you still will not find a huge number of tourists hotels or free-standing restaurants (i.e., not attached to a hotel) as the other places do.
There is limited casino gambling in Goa. There are small casinos in many hotels and you can talk casino cruises on ships that have slots, etc on board, and go out for a few hours.
The shopping in Phuket is much more varied and of better quality. As noted above, there is excellent shopping in India, but you need to go to Delhi or Jaipur or another large city to have this. You will find textiles and some local handicrafts, but not nearly the amount or quality that you would in Phuket. I don't think Samui or Langkawi offers a great deal in the way of shopping, so Goa would be comparable. If you want to buy saris, you will find material (good for bedspreads, tablecloths, etc) in Goa.
Goan food is tremendous, a mix of Portuguese and Indian. It is one of the reasons I like Goa so much. If you don't like curry you will find plenty of other Goan food to your liking, especially seafood. Hotels will also always offer a western option.
Goa was a Portuguese colony, so it has many Christians, and parts of Panjim and other towns have a colonial feel. There are churches to visit as well as some colonial buildings. The colonial influence can also be seen in the people and their customs. You will not find this in the other places as you know, where there is very little of cultural interest (Bangkok is an exception of course). You can find Indian dance and music on offer as well. The Goan people are incredibly friendly, not unlike the Thais and Malays. The level of English is excellent, although I have never found this to be a problem in Thailand or Malaysia either.
You might also consider going to the state of Kerala, further south. The beaches here are about the same, but there are also a network in inland rivers and waterways which you can explore by rattan houseboat (with crew and cook, of course). Run a search on this site, as people have posted on Kerala, including myself. I think Kerala is a very interesting destination, maybe even more so than Goa.
As with Thailand/Malaysia, Goa is a LONG way to go to sit on a beach. If you aren't interested in Indian culture or travel to other parts of India, I would not suggest you go to Goa. You would be better off with a pure beach destination like the Maldives, Seychelles.

7 Travel Tips while you are travelling to Goa

Some Travel Tips while you are travelling to Goa for your leisure or business trip.

What does it take to travel on business, far from your comfort zone? Flight delays, whirlwind business trips, lack of rest, no vacation time and a whole lot more. Clearly no finishing school in the world can prepare you to face these seemingly trivial travails of a trip.

A business trip offers a great chance to make a name for yourself as you represent the company. You can choose to stay sharp and come back a success, or pretend it’s a drunken vacation and break your career. If you choose the former, here are seven must-know tips for someone who wishes to be a pro business traveler:

1. Stay Alert Even Before Traveling
Most business travelers tend to rush things and end up not getting enough rest before departing. It is essential to get plenty of rest the night before, as stress can also leave you prone to forgetting something important. Keep everything you consider important and cannot afford to lose, such as your ID, wallet etc. with you, in case of loss of baggage. Here is a site I found interesting.

2. Eat Healthy
The psychology of a traveler is such that traveling is seen as a time to break away from a healthy lifestyle. This attitude may be excused if you’re on a vacation but certainly not when traveling for business.
Airports are unhealthy places that don’t offer great food choices. A greasy pizza or a fatty burger is the worst way to start your journey. While you may not be allowed to carry beverages, you can pack your own healthy ready-to-eat snacks like some granola bars, fruit and sandwiches, and buy some water. While at home or office, you certainly do not eat chocolates, peanuts, pretzels and drink wine all day; so why such unhealthy temptations while traveling?

To ensure you stay sharp at all times, stick to non-greasy food, fresh salads (with light dressings) and fruits. Choose grilled chicken over fried and the plainest fish dish on the menu. Avoid buttery sauces and order for a veggie medley instead of fries. As tempting as it may be, stay away from aerated drinks.

Traveling is dehydrating and water is a wonderful source of hydration. If you are one of those business travelers who need to consume alcohol during flight, make sure to drink plenty of water as alcohol dehydrates you. We are talking of pure sparkling water not what you mixed in your drink. This will also help you avoid getting sick or feeling nauseous by the time you reach your destination. Why not start loading up on water hours before boarding a flight? CNN reveals important information on toxic cabin air in this video.

3. Keep Fit And Relaxed
One of the most popular misconceptions of even frequent business travelers is that they can rest on the plane. You may think you’ve slept on the plane but it can be stressful and leaves most people tired by the time they land. It is advisable to plan in such a way that you get a good night’s sleep before getting on the plane; more so if you have to handle business soon after landing.

While on a business trip, people have little or no time to keep up with a regular exercise program. But it does not have to be that way. Getting a good workout before attending to your business is not only good for your health but also gives an extra burst of energy for the day. It does not have to be anything extensive, just a simple workout while watching the morning news will do.

You can walk around the plane as much as possible during the flight. Regular stretching of legs will also help avoid the risk of deep vein thrombosis while giving you the exercise you need.

4. Combat Jet Lag
Jet lag is the bane of a business traveler. If you are traveling across time zones for business, it is only natural that your sleep timing gets disrupted; especially if it is daytime when you arrive at your destination but night back home. Try to avoid sleeping during the day and do some light exercise to refresh your body enough to keep it from producing sleep-inducing hormones. Caffeine can be used to help combat sleepiness during the day but it should not be taken close to bedtime, as this can make you sleepless at night.

In the U.S. mathematicians are developing unique software that can help the global traveler adjust easily in a new time zone. In their laptops, travelers will enter the flight details and receive advice on when to sleep, when to get exposed to daylight, and if they need some supplements. Anyway, you may have to wait about five years for this software to be out.

5. Deal With Loneliness
Over time, traveling for business can seem like an endless grind. Make your monotonous and lonely business trips fun and interesting.

One way is to converse with neighbors on the plane. At the hotel, instead of ordering room service, get down and choose a table with a view, overlooking a river or even a street. Better still, sit at the bar and talk to the locals. You can even network with your business community and meet up for a lunch or dinner, provided your schedule allows it. This sort of interaction keeps your senses alert.

Reading can be a great stress buster. Carry a couple of good books and read on the plane and when dining alone, if you are in no mood for inane conversations.

If you have to occupy long stretches of time between conducting business, it can be refreshing to visit places of interest, such as antique shops or local craft shops. Take the edge off and get ready for an upcoming business meeting.

6. Carry Data Backup
Electronic storage devices are part and parcel of every business traveler. No longer do businessmen carry bunches of paper stuffed in their bags. Although, it is not advisable, if you are going to check in your laptop, you need to get yourself a sturdy laptop bag, as you can expect some mishandling. Pack appropriate cables to access the Internet. However, it is essential to back up all the material on a USB flash drive (or a couple of drives), as they are small, light, portable and easy-to-use. This ensures you are covered if something should happen to the laptop.

7. Safeguard Against Negative Elements
While staying sharp when traveling for business entails keeping yourself healthy and fit and handling business efficiently, it also means not becoming a sitting duck for criminals.

Here’s how you can be security conscious when traveling:

If you are going to a new place, try and avoid reaching the destination at night.
Find out about the hotel you are going to be staying beforehand, to ensure you do not end up in a hotel of questionable safety.
It is advisable to pay for the food from the restaurant instantly. Charging these expenses to your hotel bill makes it easier for people to match your name and room number.
Be very careful with your credit cards as most of them give away your complete name.
Be vary of taxi drivers who take you on routes you have no idea of. It is a good idea to check the route on a map beforehand. This way you can even suggest the landmarks to the taxi driver.
Make sure you do not act like a stranger in town, even if you are. This lessens the risk of being taken for a ride.
Finally….
It is very easy to change the complete routine when traveling – right from changing sleeping patterns to eating wrong to not exercising to letting yourself go. However, the best way to stay sharp when traveling is to stick to the normal routine as much as possible.

If you do feel unwell, take extra care by going to bed early or sipping some tea or taking medication. Following these tips will help keep you mentally sharp and physically energetic to handle your business efficiently.

Before we end, we cannot help but recommend this excellent FDA site that gives tips for travel abroad, irrespective of the country you are traveling to.

Fashion in Goa:

GOA the Model State of INDIA
Goa, a tiny emerald land on the west coast of India, the 25th State in the Union of States of India, was liberated from Portuguese rule in 1961. It was part of Union territory of Goa, Daman & Diu till 30 May 1987 when it was carved out to form a separate State.
Goa covers an area of 3702 square kilometers. Boundaries of Goa State are defined in the North Terekhol river which separates it from Maharashtra, in the East and South by Karnataka State and West by Arabian Sea. Goa lies in Western Coast of India and is 594 Kms (by road) away from Mumbai city.

Goa has emerged as one of the most developed States in India and even achieved the ranking of one of the best states in India with regards to investment, environment and infrastructure.
From October to February the weather in Goa maintains a steady, relaxing course, with temperatures staying between 25°C (77°F) and 30°C (86°F). From June through to September – during the monsoon – the rains come down hard raising humidity.
Several charter airlines fly into Goa's Dabolim Airport direct from the UK and Germany. There are also regular flights between Dabolim Airport and Mumbai (Bombay), Delhi, Udaipur, Bangalore, Madras, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. The 760km (465mi) Konkan Railway opened in January 1998 linking Mumbai with Goa (10 hours) and south to Mangalore (15 hours), dramatically cutting travel times along the western coast. Private companies still offer the dreaded super deluxe video buses from Panaji and Margao to Mumbai (15 hours), Mysore (16 hours) and Bangalore.

Goa. time out from life as you know it.
More vacationers visit Goa every year then any other destination on the west coast of India. Why? Wonderful climate. A glorious history richly preserved in churches, forts, traditional homes, villages and its cities. Spectacular pageantry. Colourful festivals. Warm and gracious people. Superb cuisine. Goa is one of India's most laid back, yet sophisticated and exciting , destinations. From miles and miles of sunny beaches, to the splendors of its quaint cities, towns and cobbled alleyways, Goa is more than just beaches and sunshine. It's also the charm and magic of toxic resorts, a verdant green countryside, lush green forests and abundant wildlife topped with the legendary warmth and hospitality of the Goan people.

And away from the beaten track, travelers discover a romantic and other-century Goa in its medieval small towns, and beautiful villages, with rich flora and fauna. There is so much to see and yet at the end of it all you feel there's too little time.

FASHION ACCESSORIES
Crafts of Goa
Goa does not lag behind as far as arts and crafts are concerned and has turned out a good competitor in this creative field just like any other art enriched state of India. It can be said that art virtually runs in their blood, which is manifested, in many artistic crafts that have attained commercial proportions. They make excellent souvenirs for tourists. These items are crafted by professional artisans in their ethnic ambience, and also by artisans working at the arts and crafts complex run by the government.
The crafts of the state are intricately beautiful, capturing the fancies of tourists and locals alike. These crafts can be at best described as a mirror of Goa's perennial glory and beauty and they have carved a niche for themselves with the connoisseur's of art the world over.

Types of Handicrafts
The major art forms of the state include bamboo craft, woodcarving, brass metals, seashell craft, papier-mâché, and wooden lacquer ware. Other important crafts of the state include jute macrame, fabric collage, plaster of Paris, crochet and embroidery, fiber and batik prints, fiber stone carving, coconut shell carving, metal embossing, silver and imitation jewelry, cotton dolls, soft toys, woolen tapestry, and artistic weaving.

Creativity is also showcased in Goan brassware. Skilled brass workers at Corlim, Mapusa, specialize in the exquisite candelabra-like brass oil lamps called samai. These range from the foot-high, four-branched avatar to many-branched items. Brass lamp-trees and storks are in fact a connoisseur's delight. Similarly, silversmiths and goldsmiths of Goa are known the world over for their craftsmanship, nurtured through the centuries.
Goan lace is here, as are colourful masks, cotton bags, wooden toys and the excellent shopping bags and table mats woven from sisal or banana, coconut or pineapple fibre.

Pottery & Terracota: These are traditional crafts with utility-cum-decorative items produced by the potters with artistic perfection and realistic finish. The items produced with this craft include flower garden pots, bowls with floral designs, figures of Saints, Gods' and Goddesses' and animals, ashtrays and penholders, etc.

Brass Metal Ware: While utensils of utility are made of sheet metal (copper), brass metal casting is a craft passed on from one generation to another practised on hereditary basis. The items produced include oil lamps in various designs, candle stands, temple towers, church bells, ashtrays, etc.
Wooden Laquerware/Wood Turning: Some of the most exquisite items produced in Goan woodcraft include cradles, baby carts, toys, corner stands, etc. which are used mostly by Hindu families on religious occassions.

Crochet & Embroidery: Works such as tablecloths, children and ladies garments, pillow and cushion covers, linen form a breathtaking apparel range.
Bamboo Craft: One of the major crafts industry of Goa. The list of popular Bamboo products include flower baskets, mats, and letter-holders, pen stands, fans and other decorative items.

Fibre Craft: Shopping bags, ladies purses, coasters and wall hangings, and other essential accessory items used in daily purposes are made of banana or sisal fibre and the major fibre craft centre is situated in Corlim.

Jute Macrame Craft: Jute craft is known to be one of the most unique crafts of India and items such as decorative bags, belts, wall hangings, lamp shades, flower pots, hangers, etc are popular Goan souvenirs.

Coconut Mask Carving & Sea Shell Craft: Mask carving has got a whole new look in Goa as it is done on coconut shells. Sea shell craft produces ashtrays, lamp shades, coasters, chandeliers, curtains, pot hangers, table mats, clocks, mirror frame, etc.

HAUTE CUISINE
Goan food is simple but most, though not all of it is chili hot, spicy, and pungent. Items made from rice, fish, and coconut abound in nearly every Goan meal.
Seafood such as prawns, lobsters, crabs, pomfrets, clams, ladyfish, mussels, and oysters are used to make a variety of curries, fries, soups and pickles. Besides fresh seafood, dried and salted fish dishes are also highly prized by Goans. The main varieties of fish and other marine food products available in Goa are Mackerels, Seer Fish, Pomfrets, Prawns, Sharks, Sardines, Kowala Koval (White sardines), Sciaenaeids, Butter fish, Silver belly, Soles Crabs, Cuttle fish/squids
Another item which is on the list of every traveller to Goa is a pack of the famed cashew nuts. There are shops specialising in selling only cashewnuts. The nuts are available in a wide variety of tastes ranging from plain, salted and masala. The prices vary based on the quality and flavour.
Goa exports coco-nuts, coconut oil, areca-nuts, spices, canned fish, etc.

GOAN MUSIC
Music, dance and revelry course through the blood of the Goan community since time immemorial. The Goan people are a musical lot with almost every family laying claim to a musician family-member of some sort!
The music and dance of Goa are a rich cultural blend of the West with the East. The hold of rural music is strong in the less developed ares of the state, though the urban areas have shifted to more modern forms of music, one of which, Goa Trance has made an impact worldwide.

Goa Trance is a vibrant and psychedelic dance music that is best enjoyed on the dance drug LSD and is a powerful and kaleidoscopic tapestry of sound.
Various kinds of music cassettes are available in various stores in the city.

Weather in Goa during April & May

Goa during April and May, What's it like? Worth or not?

Last May was unbearable even the locals said it was hotter than they have ever known it. I went to the beach but hardly any shacks are open and then i didnt want to lay on the beach. It depends on when the shacks close down for the season as to if there are going to be people there. Charter flights have stopped coming into Goa by May. If it wasn't for the humidity i would have stayed longer than the 21st May. I was so pleased when i booked my flight out.

Make sure you get apartment with AC then at least you can sleep at night .Hey Goa is still a nice place to go even if it is humid there.

Spend sweltering, sultry days if you land up in summer at this lazy-daisy destination - a good time though for a budget holiday. The heat will probably keep you off the beaches and you may find yourself engaged in peaceful siestas in the afternoons, but expect heavy off-season discounts as far as accommodation and sightseeing, dinner and drinks are concerned.
Besides beaches, options like a visit to wildlife sanctuaries and spice plantations could offer slight respite from the heat. Evenings are pleasant.

So this year again it is expected to be very very hot - but don't stay too long cos the monsoon comes not long after. also not many travellers there at that time of year they tend to leave in march.

It is generally hot and humid during the day and nice and breezy in the evening. But warm nevertheless. You will enjoy an early morning and evening stroll on the beach. Be careful of the sun - it can scorch you during the day. By the 3rd week of April rains are expected , but believe me, Goa is very beautiful during the rainy season.

But never the less it is very good to enjoy dip in the sea and sip chilled beers. If you hate rains and cold then probably best time to enjoy Mangoes and cashew nuts.

Ashram Concert on Feb. 4th, 2011 in Goa !!!

Ashram is an Indian - Austrian "Rock- fusion- band“.
The band Ashram was founded in 2004 on a longer trip through India. Six years before, in 1998 Manuel Seidl (vox), Judy Sepan (guitar) and German Schwarz (drums/ bass) had been playing together in the rockband „Fur Balloon“. After 6 years „rock´n´roll“ with Fur Balloon and the inspirations of the Indian travel in 2004, the band was motivated to create an overcontinental musicgroup and a new orientalrock musicstyle. In 2005 Ashram had played their first concert tour in jails , this project was called „Prisontour“. On that tour the band still played in a standardrockformation (vox: Manuel Seidl/ guitar: Judy Sepan/ bass: Sebastian Obermaier/ drums: German Schwarz) without their Indian friends (thagil: Ajaya Gopi/ tabla: Hari Kumar/ vox: Saju Nivas). In 2006 Ashram got together again in Kerala, for recording their first album in Thiruvananthapuram. After those visits in India the band realized the vision to bring all musicians on one stage in 2007. In August and September 2007 the realization of this difficult bandproject took place and they presented their first Ashram album (Titel: Ashram/ Year: 2007) and played more than 30 gigs across Germany and Austria. On that first tour, the band played with Adrian Müller (alternate bassist for Sebastian Obermaier) and Jayprakasch (alternate singer for Saju Nivas). Like before most of the concerts were played in prisons. After a six weeks long and tough, private organized musictour, our band disjoined again. So the Indians Ajaya Gopi, Hari Kumar and Jayprakasch went home to Southindia. Adrian Müller and German Schwarz moved for nearly one year from Linz (Austria) to Berlin (Germany) to play for the band „Saint Lu“. After a few month German Schwarz and Adrian Müller were leaving Berlin and came back to Austria. At the same time Judy Sepan was triping through Los Angeles (U.S) where he was searching for a prfessional Ashram musicproducer. In September 2008 Ashram performed their third „Prisontour“ again in a standard rock- band- formation without the indian bandmembers. The tour took place in Austria and Germany, they played also some illegal concerts on pulblic places: in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Paris (France) and Brüssel (Belgium / you can watch the Brüssel concert on youtube.) After this crazy and funny tour in 2008 the band was disposed to organize a second tour with their Indian musicians. In May 2009 the band started with their second concerttour, two years later again in their „real“ bandformation. Ashram had again some rough intern troubles and the Indian vocalist Anu Praveen came for Saju Nivas into the band. In this time (May 09) the musicians of Ashram were also recording their second Ashram album „One“ in a little village in the highlands of Upperaustria. In June 2009 the Indian musicians went home to Kerala and in September the band went on their fourth „prisontour“ with Bernhard Schopper on drums (alternate tour drummer for German Schwarz). The band performed again the concerts without the Indian bandmembers, because of some badly expiriences of our jailtour in 2007. Altogether Ashram rocked in more than 60 jails. Since 2009 the band is working on their second Ashram album named "One". Fortunately they got an illustrious producer from L.A - Thom Russo. He worked for example with bands like: System of a Down, Audioslave, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson ...and so on. Ashram is sure that this new album "One" will live up the expectations. The album presentation is scheduled for February 2011 with a concert tour through South India. www.ashram.at

Why Do People Travel?

Can you imagine what is life without traveling? Is it possible? Whatever your reason is, traveling is a part of people's life. We all travel. The reason behind that is up to you.
There are different reasons why people travels:.
1.) Most People Travel because they want to see their families and friends who live far away. Invitations from families and friends are seldom so you will decide to travel just to see them.
2.) People Travel because they want to see their soul mates. Some people believe that there is only one person for them and if they haven't had much luck searching in their area, they figured it out that even though there are millions of people around the world, they can still find it in other place.
3.) People travel to seek for work because they want to experience how to work from another place. We must admit that earning money is hard and some people decide to work abroad because they are looking for greener pasture. Other place pays bigger rates than their own place. We may also say that their expertise is not favorable in their own place. Unfortunately, they have to leave their families for awhile for a job opportunities abroad.
4.) People travel because they want to learn others cultures. They want to see the difference between their culture and other cultures. They want to learn others culture because for them traveling is fun while learning. One particular thing about the culture is the food. They want to know how food is prepared and how it is done. Obviously, we all love to eat.
5.) People travel because they are writers. They want to give the readers relevant article to their readers especially when they are making story in that particular place.
6.) People travel because they want to see all beautiful scenery of different countries. Others would want to take pictures because it serves as souvenirs.
7.) When opportunity arise, it is hard to decide whether to leave your family and open a business far away your place. Some businessmen would rather put up business in other place because they want gain and it is more profitable than staying in their place. Business is nothing without profit.
Traveling is not only for rich people. Whether you are poor or in the middle class, you can travel as long as it fits your budget. Some travel for their goals, some travel for fun and relaxation and some travel for experience.

The Goan Parties & its Night after Life :-)

Goa has always been known for its ‘Happening’ culture. Nightlife of Goa is a major attraction for the tourists. The beaches are a hotspot for organising parties. Alternatively, hotels, pubs, bars and casinos are also a party spot. Party culture in Goa is supposed to be started by the Hippies during there visit to Goa in 1960s. They found the beaches of Goa perfect for resting in solitude. Nights on these beaches under the moon along with water on one side prompted them to party during night time. Since then, Goa has come a long way in terms of the manner of the party. Earlier parties were organised on festivals, get togethers and at celebration times. Now a days parties have become a sort of compulsions on the beaches of Goa. Tourists and locals need no excuse for a party and music & dance go on for whole night.

The Rave parties of Goa are also said to be started by the Hippies. One of the main form of entertainment of the tourists, the Rave parties are gaining more and more popularity every passing year. Earlier Rave parties meant Loud music, Boozing, and Addictive Drugs abuse. The hippies had a kind of life style which required alcohol, drugs and other illegal consumable items. Slowly the craze of these kind of parties started building up in the youths and the visitors of Goa. Later on, with government interventions and regulatary norms, Drug abuse came down as these were declared illegal by law. In the current scenario, Rave parties in Goa mean ‘Goa Trance music’, Dance, Live bands, great food and occasional boozing. The local music bands of Goa have developed a unique style of music, which is refered to as ‘Goa Trance’. The Rave parties of Goa are also refered as Trance parties.

The growing drug abuse in these Rave parties faced heavy oppositions by the government officials, environmentalists and the local media. Since last few years, they have joined hands over the drug abuse issue and to put a stop to the easy availibility of these drugs. Now it’s only during Christmas and New Year that one can be guaranteed an organised rave on a scale to match Ibiza, Thailand or Miami. For the rest of year normal dance and music Trance parties go on.

Nightlife :-
Goa is the best place in India to visit, for extra fun and frolic enjoy nightlife in Goa. Nightlife in Goa is exciting and there are many ways to spark up the evening. What adds to the merriment here apart from the sun sand and sea is the terrific nightlife of Goa. Even the most developed metros of the country cannot compete with the nightlife here. The beaches are popular undoubtedly but what makes them popular is the never dying party spirit of the people. Ever since the hippies made Goa their hangout zone, partying has come to be an integral part. The laws of the state are liberal with alcohol, you can get a drink almost at any spot in the state. However, it comes strict against drunken driving, nudity and drugs.

Visit Goa for extra fun and frolic enjoy nightlife in Goa. Goa nightlife is full of fun with Goa night clubs, discos in Goa, and Goa discotheques.

Discos in Goa :
Anjuna Beach Discos, Bamboo Forest Disco, Paradiso Disco, North Goa Discos, Club Cabana Disco, Club Antoos Disco, Night Clubs in Goa, Hill Top Disco, South Goa Discos, Club Tito's Disco, Club Extreme Disco.

The atmosphere is just great - relaxing and conducive to spend with family and friends. What surprises is that every third house at some place is a bar cum restaurant selling chilled bear and reasonable Goan delicacies and sea food.

There are numerous ways and places to have a wonderful evening ahead once you are in Goa, but don't plan ahead. If you plan to dine, drink and party at three different places through the evening then you might end up doing all three at a single place. Most restaurants also have bars, many bars have night clubs here. The atmosphere is relaxed. Nightlife in Goa is not just wine, dine and party, there are many options to choose from to spend your evening.
Party, Party and Party!

If you are a party animal then Goa is a party zoo. Rave parties became the mark of Goa in 1960's with hippies introducing them. Drinks, drugs and loud music marked these parties. However with government crack down on drugs and efforts to promote up market tourism instead of backpackers tourism, the rave parties have become trance parties. Goa Trance is the unique Goan music style developed by local music bands. The parties are now called Trance parties with dance and live bands performing, and controlled boozing. Anjuna, 'freak capital of the world' is popular for its night long trance parties. There is a pounding music system here on the beach. Its a rave party venue around Christmas and new year. But it's not just Anjuna raving with parties, Calangute, Baga, Colva, Dauna Paula are all venues for parties. Tito's at Baga, Ziggy's at Colva, Temptations at Red Cab on Vagator, Lido's at Dauna Paula. Except for few uncommercialized ones, you will find places of beach parties. Enjoy parties with Goa pubs, Goa discos.

Trip to Goa reveals that the nightlife in Goa is exciting and there are many ways to liven up the evening. Goans enjoy going out and it is not unusual to find families out for a night of merriment. In certain areas, almost every third house has a bar-cum-restaurant. The place may not be anything special, usually just a room in the house that has been opened to the public with a couple of chairs and a table. But the atmosphere is great - totally relaxing and extremely conducive to an enjoyable night out with friends and family. You will find on your trip to Goa that most of the places serve exquisite seafood and other Goan delicacies and have well stocked bars. The hottest place to visit and to be seen at in Goa today is Titos which is right on the beach. There's also a new discotheque 'The Beachotheque' where you can dance the night away. Or you could check out Lidos in Dona Paula. But if you are in the mood to dance to the rhythm of the ocean, get together a group of our friends, some food and drink and hit the beach. You are sure to have a special night on your trip to Goa with the sand the moon and the pounding waves!
What makes Goa one of the hottest tourist destinations in India is its vibrant nightlife. A state that believes in partying for almost every occasion, the nightlife of Goa is sure to remain etched in your memory for a long time to come. The nightlife of Goa is an essential part of an average Goan's life. Though it is not one of the metros, the Goan night life is much better than the nightlife of any other big metro city of India. The nightlife here was started by the hippies who came here during the 70's. Since then, the nightlife in Goa has steadily increased and has gained much fame now.
Since alcohol is easily available in Goa, there is no dearth of fun and enjoyment here during late hours. Goa is full of small restaurants that have bars too. So, almost every eatery will have a bar that serves chilled beer and allows you to relax in peace. The most popular zones for enjoying the nightlife of Goa are the beaches. Goans believe in partying hard and one can spot many trance parties in famous beaches where people just enjoy themselves and forget the tensions of life. Though Goa is a liberal state, there are strict laws against drunken driving, taking drugs, etc.
In case you are planning to drink, eat and dance, chances are you will end up doing it at the same place. The key to enjoy Goan nightlife is not to plan. Let everything unfold before you simultaneously. The idea of encountering the unexpected is what makes the nightlife of Goa even more exciting. Of course, the beaches are full of people jiving away to trance music and enjoying their drinks. But that unknown factor that attracts so many revelers to the Goan nightlife is what makes the parties so happening. You have to be there to feel the magic take over you.
Though, Nightlife is not so popular in India, it is very much accepted in Goa, which bears much of the Portuguese culture and tradition. One time Portuguese Colony, Goa is the best place in India to visit, if you love to fun and frolic through out the day and the night. Nightlife in Goa is exciting and there are many ways to spark up the evening.

The people of Goa are fun lovers and it is very common to find families going out for a night of fun and merriment. There are places where, almost every third house has a bar-cum-restaurant. The place may not be anything very special, usually just a room in the house that has been opened to the public with a couple of chairs and a table. But the atmosphere is excellent - totally relaxing and extremely favourable to an enjoyable night out with friends and family. Most of the places serve exquisite seafood and other Goan delicacies and have well stocked bars. Titos, which is right on the beach in Goa are the hottest place to visit and to be seen at in Goa today. There's also a new discotheque 'The Beachotheque' where you can dance the night away. You can also check out Lidos in Dona Paula. But, if you are in the mood to dance to the tempo of the ocean, get together with your group of friends, some food and drink and hit the beach. No doubt, you will surely have a special night with the shimmering sand, the soothing moon and the bracing waves!
With the party scene pretty much dead, Goan nightlife has come to resemble the kind of crass nightlife found anywhere on the planet that has large scale tourism. With the police demanding higher and higher baksheesh, only establishments that charged entry and sold drinks at extortionate prices could afford to be in the market.

Part of the reason for the rise of discos and night clubs in Goa might be in part due to the boom in Russian tourism, as visitors from Moscow wanted to get dressed up and go somewhere at night, but it was probably inevitable. It's amazing that it took as long as it did for the local gangsters to cash in on the party scene. The first club to really try to muscle in on the trance party movement was the Paradiso, run by some rich guy from Bombay. It was a weird place to dance with a wooden dance floor and overlooking balconies but at times it was the only party going - i.e. the owner had paid the cops to not let any other parties happen that night.

Life in Goa is an endless party. The carefree lifestyle and the beaches is a perfect setting for a thriving nightlife in Goa. You can party and dance the night away at the nightclubs or enjoy a quiet dinner followed by a drink at one of the popular bars or pubs. Nighttime entertainment in Goa also includes visits to the theaters. Taking a cruise in the river is another interesting way of enjoying Goa after dusk.

Partying : In Goa, everyday is a party with nightclubs and discotheques filled with people every evening. Beach parties are very popular in Goa, so are the parties at the clubs. Club Cabana, Club Antoosa and Club Extreme are some popular venues for partying in Goa. Rave or trance parties are also popular in the state. You get to hear the famous trance music of Goa here. The beach shacks feature prominently in the nightlife of Goa. Sipping a drink you can observe the lively beaches as faint strains of music plays in the background.
